Ubiquitous Multimedia and Mobile Agents: Models and Implementations
EDITOR: Dr. Susmit Bagchi
TO BE PUBLISHED BY: IGI GLOBAL, USA

Proposal submission deadline: 15 March 2010

Introduction
The ubiquitous multimedia systems, or mobile multimedia systems, offer
the promise of pervasive delivery of multimedia contents to the mobile
users to their hand-held devices.

The ubiquitous/mobile multimedia systems have enormous research challenges
and, also, commercial potentials for the end products. The ubiquitous
multimedia systems involve user/creator authentication, media adaptation,
data delivery over wireless network, QoS awareness, and user-mobility
management. On the other hand, the mobile agent technology is
appropriate for the realization of a wide range of high-end mobile
applications.
Agents/mobile-agents are capable of tackling various challenges faced by
mobile multimedia delivery infrastructure.

We solicit scholarly book chapters on the hybridization of these two
paradigms, namely, ubiquitous/mobile multimedia and mobile agents, where
mobile agents act as the platform to realize mobile multimedia delivery
infrastructure. We are soliciting technical papers, in the form of book
chapters, dealing with
mobile agents-based ubiquitous content delivery, agent-based media
adaptation, agent-based QoS management, and agent-based user-mobility
management, as well as establishing ubiquitous media delivery
infrastructure based on agent-mediated
platforms/middleware.

Intended Audience
The book will be published by IGI Global in 2011. This book will serve
as a reference book of scholarly value for advanced level students,
researchers, and professionals.

CALL FOR PAPERS

Special Issue on:
High Performance Computing in Earth Observation and Remote Sensing

A special issue of the IEEE J-STARS on High Performance Computing in
Earth Observation and Remote Sensing has been recently approved by the
J-STARS steering committee. Advances in sensor technology are
revolutionizing the way Eart Observation (EO) and remote sensing data
are collected, managed and processed. Latest-generation EO Instruments
onboard airborne and satellite platforms are currently producing a
nearly-continual stream of high-dimensional data, and this explosion in
the amount of collected information has rapidly introduced new
processing challenges. In particular, many current and future
applications of remote sensing in EO, space science, and soon in
planetary exploration science, require the incorporation of high
performance computing practices to address applications with high
scoietal impact such as monitoring of natural disasters including

Subject: CFP: Special Issue on Localized Algorithms for Information

From: efnaka@gmail.com

CALL FOR PAPERS

Elsevier's Information Fusion Journal, Special Issue on Localized
Algorithms for Information Fusion in Resource-Constrained Networks

The Information Fusion Journal (IFJ), an Elsevier publication (JCR
2008: 2.057), is planning a special issue devoted to Localized
Algorithms for Information Fusion in Resource-Constrained Networks.
Resource-Constrained Networks (RCNs) include a wide variety of
networks in which resources - such as processing, communication, and
energy - are limited. Examples of RCNs include ad hoc networks,
sensor networks, mobile networks, and pervasive systems. In RCNs, the
tradeoff between data quality and resource usage (especially energy)
is a major concern. In this case, Localized Algorithms and Information
Fusion are particularly interesting for RCNs, since the development of
efficient practical solutions and algorithms is possibly the most
challenging task for such networks. On one hand, Localized Algorithms
are special distributed algorithms in which only a subset of nodes
partakes in the network tasks, such as data acquisition, processing,
and communication. On the other hand, Information Fusion is often used
for improving the quality of data being transmitted in these networks.
Thus, Localized Algorithms for Information Fusion must deal with the
challenge of working with partial views, or incomplete data, to
provide accurate results at reduced cost.

CALL FOR PAPERS

http://pcgrid.imag.fr

The Elsevier Science's Journal Future Generation Computer Systems
with subtitle as The International Journal of Grid Computing:
Theory, Methods and Application" will publish a special issue on
Volunteer Computing and Desktop Grids. Desktop grids and volunteer
computing systems (DGVCS's) utilize the free resources available in
Intranet or Internet environments for supporting large-scale computation
and storage. For over a decade, DGVCS's have been one of the largest
and most powerful distributed computing systems in the world, offering
a high return on investment for applications from a wide range of
scientific domains (including computational biology, climate prediction, and
high-energy physics). While DGVCS's sustain up to PetaFLOPS of computing
power from
hundreds of thousands to millions of resources, fully leveraging the
platform's computational power is still a major challenge because of
the immense scale, high volatility, and extreme heterogeneity of such
systems. The purpose of this special issue is to focus on recent
advances in the
development ofscalable, fault-tolerant, and secure DGVCS's.

Special Issue on Formal Methods for Pervasive, Self-Adaptive, and

CALL FOR PAPERS

Aims and Scope

Pervasive, self-adaptive and context-aware systems are increasingly
realized for safety-critical domains that include healthcare, emergency
scenarios, and disaster recovery. These domains present new challenges
that include expressing, verifying and validating requirements and
ensuring functional correctness. Formal methods are one approach to
address these challenges. Pervasive, self-adaptive and context-aware
systems add additional concerns to classical safety-critical
applications and require rethinking how to apply well-established formal
methods. Examples of these approaches include state-action models (e.g.,
labeled transition system, timed automata, and Petri nets) or process
models (e.g., pi-calculus). Alternatively, semi-formal methods like
ontologies or UML, a common specification language for the describing
software models, model knowledge for context-aware applications. Both
formal and semi-formal methods have their advantages and disadvantages.
This special issue will address the state of the art: the research
challenges, and the available methods, methodologies and tools to
specify, validate, and verify pervasive, self-adaptive and context-aware
systems.

Subject: CFP: Special Issue on Fundamentals of Nanoscale Communications

To: cse-cfp@cse.stfx.ca

CALL FOR PAPERS
NANO COMMUNICATION NETWORKS JOURNAL (ELSEVIER)
Special Issue on
FUNDAMENTALS OF NANOSCALE COMMUNICATIONS
Submission deadline: May 1, 2010

Incredible improvements in nanotechnologies have enabled the vision
of nanonetworks composed of a number of nanomachines communicating
with each other for a specific nanoscale application. Due to size and
capabilities of nanomachines that may constitute of just several
moles of atoms or molecules, traditional communication mechanisms are
deemed inapplicable in nanonetworks. Many novel nanoscale
communication paradigms are currently under investigation such as
molecular communication, communication over carbon nanotubes and
nanowires. Recent work has also revealed that nanoscale physical
devices naturally communicate with each other through various quantum
phenomena, which makes nanoscale communication also closely related
to the quantum communication networks structured based on principles
of quantum entanglement.

Submission Instructions and Important Dates:
Prospective Authors: Please submit your paper following the Nano
Communication Networks (Elsevier) journal format described at online
system http://ees.elsevier.com/nanocomnet and choose "Special Issue:
Nano-scale Communications" as Article Type. Papers must be single-
column, double-spaced pdf format, and use at least 11 pt fonts, and
should not exceed 25 pages including references.
