Multimedia Coding and Communication over Wireless and Mixed Networks

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Abstract:

Recent advances in computing and wireless communication technology leads
to the proliferation of mobile devices connected by a variety of
wireless links. This have opened up new opportunities for richer and
better multimedia applications like on-demand mobile video streaming,
mobile TV, peer to peer mobile video, surveillance and other security

*****************************************************************

Conference Main Theme: Wireless Entropy

Overview

PIMRC 2007 provides a global forum for presenting the most recent
advances, the future technical challenges and business opportunities that
comprise the contemporary landscape in wireless communications. The
organizers endeavour to attract contributions covering not only
conventional areas of wireless communications (e.g., physical layer), but
also emerging areas with high potential for essential scientific and
societal impact such as wireless sensors for biomedical applications and
non-trivial pervasive computing services. The latter areas are expected to
facilitate the development of a broad vision of innovative future
applications in wireless communications. The high quality IEEE endorsed
technical programme, will also include tutorials, workshops, exhibitions,
panel discussions and keynote presentations from leading experts coming
from the academic community, industry, as well as regulatory and
standardisation
bodies.

PIMRC 2007 will be held in Athens, Greece, September 3-6, 2007 i.e. one
week following the peak of Greece's beautiful summer season.

Call for Papers

Authors are invited to submit high-quality papers describing original and
previously unpublished contributions in a wide range of topics in wireless
communications. These topics are clustered into the following three major
categories:

1) Physical Layer and MAC

The 15th IEEE International Workshop on Quality of Service (IWQoS)

CALL FOR PAPERS
The 15th IEEE International Workshop on Quality of Service (IWQoS)
Chicago, IL, June 20-22, 2007

http://iwqos07.ece.ucdavis.edu/

Quality of Service principles can be applied to a large number of
domains, and are particular relevant to the new NSF initiatives on
Future Internet Design (FIND) and Global Environment for Network
Innovations (GENI). The scope of the workshop will broadly cover all the
important aspects of QoS research: in networking (wireline, wireless,
and sensor networks), distributed systems, operating systems, servers,
and middleware (such as grid computing and peer-to-peer systems). The
workshop values both theoretical and practical research contributions
and encourages multi-disciplinary approaches to QoS research. Besides
traditional QoS topics, we welcome submissions on relevant technical
issues, such as availability, reliability, security, pricing, incentive,
resource management, and performance guarantees, in the context of
networking and distributed systems.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

* QoS in the wide-area Internet, peer-to-peer, overlay
* QoS in large-scale distributed systems, including grid environments
* QoS in wireless, mobile, ad hoc, and sensor networks (including
wireless mesh networks)
* QoS in intranets and VoIP systems
* QoS for web services and storage systems
* System dependability, availability, resilience, and robustness
* Security and privacy as QoS parameters
* QoS specification, translation, and adaptation
* QoS evaluation metrics and methodologies (measurements,
verification, etc)
* QoS analysis and modeling
* QoS pricing and billing
* QoS architectures and protocols (including QoS routing)
* Programmability and language features supporting QoS
* Rationality, incentive, microeconomics, and self-interest in
decentralized networks
* QoS and new media
* QoS and haptics , virtual environments
* QoS in business processes, workflows

IWQoS invites submission of manuscripts that present original research
results, and that have not been previously published or currently under
review by another conference or journal. Any previous or simultaneous
publication of related material should be explicitly noted in the
submission. Full-length papers for submission must not exceed 20
double-spaced single-column pages with font sizes of 11 or larger,
including all figures and references, and must include an abstract of
100 -- 150 words. Short papers for submission must not exceed 5-6
double-spaced single-column pages with font sizes of 11 or larger,
including all figures and references. An abstract of 3-5 lines is
recommended. When submitting a short paper, the authors of short papers
must check the corresponding check box at the submission site. All
papers must be submitted in either Postscript or the Adobe PDF format,
and no other formats are accepted by the paper submission web site.
Submissions will be judged on originality, significance, interest,
clarity, relevance, and correctness. At least one of the authors of each
accepted paper must present the paper at IWQoS 2007.

IWQoS aims to allow rapid dissemination of research results and to
provide fast turnaround. The deadline for papers is therefore as close
to the conference (about 4-5 months apart). The workshop is a
single-track forum spanning two and a half days. Award will be given at
the workshop to the best student paper, whose first author is a current
student. The best paper award will be chosen in consultation with the
TPC members and will be based on the topic, technical contributions,
review scores and comments of the paper.

[Tccc] 2nd IEEE/WoWMoM EXPONWIRELESS 2007 CFP

====================================================
Apologies if you receive multiple copies of this CFP
====================================================

2nd IEEE WoWMoM Workshop on advanced EXPerimental activities ON WIRELESS
networks & systems
EXPONWIRELESS - 2007
http://www.ics.forth.gr/EXPONWIRELESS07

18 June, 2007, Helsinki, Finland

in conjunction with IEEE WoWMoM 2007 (http://ieee-wowmom.tml.hut.fi/)

CALL FOR PAPERS
Wireless networks represent a challenging and ever growing research area. In
these systems the interactions among the different network layers are very
complex and their effects on the overall performance are not easy to
accurately identify. Additionally, many simplifying assumptions considered
in analytical studies do not hold in practise. Experimental activities
involving the development of systems and device prototypes and the
collection and analysis of measurements from actual networks can provide
insight on the behaviour of such systems in realistic environments, which
can be beneficial for understanding how cross-layer interactions impact in
practise the overall performance, for deriving realistic simulation models,
for analyzing particular phenomena and evaluating algorithms and protocols,
and for exploring the design choices in building actual wireless networks.
Such activities are pivotal for researchers, developers, service managers
and providers, as well as for end users involved in the evolution of these
networks.

After a successful first event last year, EXPONWIRELESS 2007 aims to again
bring together all the aspects related to experimental activities on
wireless networks, creating a forum where researchers, vendors, providers
and users can exchange ideas on past experience, current requirements, and
future visions, that are important for the development of new protocols,
algorithms, devices and systems.

High quality papers discussing original and innovative experimental
activities on wireless networks are solicited for submission. The main
topics of the workshop are (but are not limited to):

* Device prototypes for wireless BANs, PANs, LANs, and MANs
* Prototype implementation of wireless/mobile networks and systems
* Deployment and experience with multi-hop multi-radio wireless mesh
networks
* QoS for real-time voice/video in wireless networks
* Differentiated services in wireless multimedia networks
* Systems and methods for collecting and analyzing measurements in wireless
networks
* Power control and channel assignment
* Algorithms for self-configuration and self-management of beyond-3G systems
* Seamless internetworking and architectures for beyond-3G systems
* Handoff and mobility management in beyond-3G systems
* Energy-efficient protocols and power management algorithms
* Wireless security
* Wireless vehicular networks
* Wireless/Mobile applications and services
* Middleware platforms for wireless/mobile environments
* Mobility models
* Location services
* Positioning and tracking technologies
